Description: Online escrow service that holds funds on behalf of buyers and sellers so that they can securely complete a transaction. Allows seller and buyer to set the terms of the transaction followed by the buyer depositing funds with Escrow.com. Buyer is allowed a pre-established inspection and approval period before the funds are released by Escrow.com to the Seller. Looks like it would work well for sale of merchandise and domain names, but could be more complicate with the sale of services. Can be relatively costly for payments in the $1,000 to $5,000 range, since Escrow.com charges 3.25%-6.3% of the transaction value plus a $10-$60 fee for sending the money via either bank wire, electronic funds transfer, or courier. Together these fees are likely to put total costs on a $1,000-$5,000 transaction in the 5%-8% range.
